The Grace Football Academy at the weekend emerged the champions of the second edition of the Eko Football Under-13 Football tournament.
The under dogs defeated Damilola Taylor Football Academy of Ebute Metta by a lone goal to carte away the mouth prize and a giant trophy. Earlier in the day, State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB Team A) defeated the first edition champions, SUBEB Team B in the third place match by 4-3 penalties after the regulation time ended without any goal. Ayinde Football Club petit forward, Brain Igah, Winners Football Academy’s player maker, Elvis Oyenze were the outstanding players of the tournament while SUBEB player, Olowu Wahidi whose birthday coincided with the final also received a gift from the Chairman, Lagos State Football Association, Mr. Seyi Akinwunmi.
In his closing remarks, the Vice Chairman of the Lagos State Football Association, Alhaji Tade Azeez commended the forty eight academies that participated in the competition. He however assured that next edition will be bigger and better.
“We have concluded plans to organize this tournament on a monthly basis which implies that this competition will be continuous for the next two years,” he enthused.
Other LSFA board members present at the grand finale were; Alhaji Tajudeen Oladeji, Alhaji Gafaar Liameed, Mr. Mojeed Adegbindin and Mr. Wale Joseph.
